Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment

Course overview:

There are many Teaching, Assessing and Quality Assurance (TAQA) qualifications with different titles and acronyms which can make it very confusing when you are trying to find the right qualification for you.  The  Quality Assurance qualifications were the V1 Verifiers Award and the D34 qualification.  These were replaced in 2010 by the new qualification Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes & Practices.

This course has been specifically designed to support you from start to finish in the completion of your qualification. Our promise is that you will achieve the practical skills needed to become a highly sought after internal quality assurer. Our course is designed for those who have at least 12 months experience as an Assessor and want to further their career by becoming an Internal Quality Assurer. The qualification will teach you the different roles and responsibilities of an Internal Quality Assurer and allow you to put this into practice, carrying out qualification samples; both ‘desktop’ and field based observations to help you identify  training and development required  for your Assessors.

Full-time internal quality assurers can earn up to £37’000 a year, although this varies between companies and across occupational sectors.

How do I achieve this?

You will not be expected to take any exams; instead you build a portfolio of evidence including a blend of assignments and assessments to show your competence. The learning is completed through online modules which cover the majority of the knowledge criteria, however you will be expected to draw on your own experience and carry out some research independently. To cover the performance criteria you will need access to 2 Assessors that you are able to support and gather evidence of quality assurance activities.

You will be assigned an experienced Assessor who is a practicing IQA. Your personal Assessor will guide you through the course, from assignments and work shadowing to practical assessments. They will be there to lend a helping hand, constantly, so you never feel alone.

Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes & Practice is made up of:

  • Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment (6 credits)
  • Unit 2: Internally assure the quality of assessment (6 credits)
